Ted Mathys

Ted Mathys is the author of Gold Cure (Coffee House Press, 2020) as well as Null Set (2015), The Spoils (2009) and Forge (2005). His writing has been recognized with two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts and St. Louis Regional Arts Commission. He is the recipient of the Poetry Society of America's Cecil Hemley Memorial Award and was selected by Z.Z. Packer for the Kenyon Review Short Fiction Prize. His poetry, fiction, and criticism have appeared in American Poetry Review, BOMB, Boston Review, Colorado Review, Conjunctions, Denver Quarterly, The Iowa Review, Fence, The Georgia Review, Gulf Coast, PBS NewsHour and other publications.

Originally from Ohio, he holds an MFA in Poetry from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, where he received the John C. Schupes Fellowship for Excellence in Poetry; and an MA in international environmental policy from Tufts University. He lives in Saint Louis, where he is Assistant Professor of English at Saint Louis University and curates the 100 Boots Poetry Series at Pulitzer Arts Foundation.
